As we get further into 2022, your resolutions may be feeling out of reach. Your motivation may be diminishing and other priorities are taking a front seat. Don’t worry, it’s normal! We are here to help you keep your goals attainable and in reach! Here are a few tips on how to start and keep your resolutions this year.
1. Start Small and Be Specific.
A lot of people make their resolutions so big and vague that they can’t accomplish them realistically. Keep your goals small and be specific. If you are able to measure your goals, you can track your progress each month.
2. Ease into Things.
It’s hard to completely change your routine all at once, so ease into your resolutions. If you want to start exercising a few times a week, but you currently don’t exercise at all, start with exercising once a week. After you’ve gotten used to exercising once a week, move up to twice. Keep moving up until you have a consistent routine that you are satisfied with. It’s ok to work up to your intended goal and take time with it.
3. Ditch the “All or Nothing” Mentality.
Just because you can’t accomplish all of your goals at once, doesn’t mean you should give up on them. It’s easy to get discouraged, but just because you can’t do everything at once, doesn’t mean you should let it all go. Each day is a new opportunity to start again.
4. Reward Yourself.
When you are able to accomplish a goal you set for yourself, no matter how big or small, give yourself a reward! This can be treating yourself to a special drink, or taking some time off to relax. Rewarding yourself can positively enforce everything that you worked for and ensure that you continue to keep up your resolutions in the future.
